When we make mistakes, our first option is to look for ways to rationalize it to soften the brunt of responsibility to such an error. If we give in to this natural and worldly impulse at hiding in the darkness of mental somersaults, we will end up no longer seeing that what we tried to see as right is actually wrong. And our souls just plunge itself into its self-imposed darkness.
Most people believe that once people gain their freedom from oppressors, they became free. History shows that's not necessarily true. Our oppressors are not outside us but within us--pride, fear, covetousness... These sinful vices keep people in bondage using chains that no amount of uprising can break.
