  There are many things in life that cannot survive without commitment and perfection - love and commitment in marriage, celibacy in the priesthood, remission from cancer... Even a 99% faithfulness in marriage (1% adultery), 99% exercise of celibacy (1% fling), or 99% remission from (1% unexcised) cancer leaves a vulnerability to infidelity that corrupts the soul, the body, and all relationships linked to them.  

Unmarried people are always looking to spend their time. Married people are always looking for time to spend.

As youth leaves the body, and sex disappears, all that is left is that special kind of friendship that spends one's life in loving service of the other, one lifetime spending the rest of it with another.

Not everyone is cut for the married life. Those who are not, should not. So much presumption in this area has led to broken marriages and children.
