Meanings

There is nothing we can do about how long we live. But we can do so much on how much meaning our life will have--meanings that can spill into eternity.

Orientation

There are two basic prayers that express a person's basic orientation towards God in their lives. The first prayer goes: "Lord, here is what I want with my life. Please support me in this plan wherever it may take me." The second prayer says: "Lord, tell me what you want for my life. And I will follow it wherever it may take me." (Not included here are those who either do not pray or do not believe in God in the first place.)

Good Life

A truly good life is lived in humility that springs from wisdom.

Life and Picnic (a short poem)

Our life reflects the mystery in God. Adam and Eve started messing it up. And Jesus called Judas "friend." Jesus called Peter "Satan." And Peter ran away from the Lord, The Apostles too, except for John. Jesus appointed a thief to meet Him in paradise. Stephen died, his blood in the hands of Saul. And Saul, the persecutor, became the Gentile peoples' Apostle. So the Christians died in the claws of beasts, in blades of Roman swords as well. And you think that this life we live will be a picnic. [ Life Is No Picnic , by Zosimo Literatus]

Passion

Passions are designed to wake up mankind to its enormous strength. Their sometimes blinding strength demand that man need to be stronger in order to tame passions. Should he let his passions rule over him, his life will be wasted in servility to his most basic of instincts. Should he take the challenge to demand submission from his passions, he will learn what being a child of God is all about. [ Passion Rules Reason by Deviant Art]

Life and Reality

Each time we look at life as the only thing that is real, we tend to treat life as a means to satisfy all our senses because tomorrow may never come. [A quote from my new book, Got 2 Go! My Call Just Came In (2011)]

Meaning

With all our minds consumed in the demands of daily life and responsibilities with our family and the communities we serve, we can easily forget that all these things achieve meaning only in Christ Jesus. All of these mean nothing withouth Christ. All of these people and things, including ourselves, are mere passing creations on  earth who in time will return to dust where we came from. Only God makes this life meaningful and worth living amidst its triumphs and defeats.

Faith, Confession and Surrender

The easiest thing about faith is confessing it before adoring fans that you believe. The most difficult part is the total giving of your life and future to the will of God, fully surrendering to it wherever it may take you whether or not you may have chosen that road or destiny should you had your will followed.

Saint Valentine's Day 2011

From life's sorrows and despair, only love can rescue us. Happy Valentine's Day! May love so overrule today that no sorrow or despair can even touch your heart.

Cycles

In a life of ups and downs, it is the ups that count. The downs nevertheless provide a solid footing that allows you to kick yourself back up to the crest.

Time and Mortality

Time is the ultimate witness of mortality. When man is young, time means no more than a counting tool for accomplishments, or the lack thereof, often in the context that life will continue to be so in an infinite future. But man has to deal with time eventually. In his deathbed, time will ask a foolish man: "Now that your time has run out, what meaning have you found in it?"

Poverty and Crime

Poverty as a scapegoat for committing crimes is overrated. That also discriminates the poor as being by situation the only potential criminals (everyone are potential criminals). Many sensational crimes involving fortunes to the tune of billions of dollars have been committed in corporate and government worlds by those who will not qualify to our common definition of poverty. If we want to point a finger to the cause of crime, that finger  must be directed to the heart of every man, where lies the unseen evil that ferments schemes to take other peoples' lives and properties against their will.

Freedom and Choice

Freedom is dangerous. It gives us the option to choose evil, and to do evil things. Unfortunately, it is only through freedom that we can truly choose goodness and do good things according to our heart's content.

Marriage

Not everyone is cut for the married life. Those who are not, should not. So much presumption in this area has led to broken marriages and children.

Age and Happiness

No one is too old to have fun, and enjoy a good life. Even amidst the ups and downs of life, it is still possible to have fun. It is all in the mind. Commit to be happy whatever condition there is, and happiness you will find at the tip of your fingers.
